paintbrushes for balancing creativity and SEO in content writing
Reading Time: 3 minutes

Creating unique, high quality content with SEO in mind is important for your website. Whether you’re writing website copy, blog posts or guest posting, content will play a big part in the effectiveness of your SEO.

It’s important to make sure you’re creating content that is better than your competitors, standing out in the crowd is key, using unique content.

We are going to share with you some SEO content writing tips to help balance creativity in your work.

1. Do Your Keyword Research

Finding out key phrases and terms that your audience is searching for right now is really important for your SEO and it helps you to come up with ideas to include in your content. We’d recommend tools like SEMrush to find these keywords and search terms for your website.

Once you’ve found the relevant keywords that people are searching for, make a list of the most relevant ones and include them in your content. It is so important to naturally incorporate these into your writing, because if you add too many keywords, you will be penalised. This is called keyword stuffing and can have a negative impact on your SEO.

2. What Does Your Audience Want?

It’s important that your content can help and solve your audience’s pain points. People often share content when they think it’s useful information and can help others, which will increase the views that your content is getting. It’s vital that you add value to your audience with your content. The more people that start viewing your content and trusting your information, the more likely Google will do the same and rank your work higher in Google. We would recommend focusing your SEO content strategy around your customers problems and pain points, this will really add value to your audience.

3. Utilise Bullet Points & Headings

Humans have a short attention span, which means that your website visitors may leave your website pretty quickly if they can’t find what they are looking for or something they are interested in. So, it’s important that you organise your content for people who like to skim read.

Including bullet points to highlight important information is great for those that like to read quickly. Writing short sentences and paragraphs, placing important information at the start, middle and end allows your reader to get value from the whole sentence. Bullet points and headings also break up your content into smaller sections, which will look a little less daunting for the reader that lands on your website.

4. Choosing Relevant Images

A picture is worth a thousand words.

It’s important to make the most out of pictures within your content. Adding relevant and engaging images to your content (this can include product images, blog images and infographics) can bring even more value to your website. It is important to make sure that when you add images into your content, you’re adding alt tags as well. This will help your SEO, allowing visually impaired people to understand what the photo is describing. Images are worth the time, so add them!

5. Facts & Interesting Points

Including interesting facts and points in your content can support the argument or point you are talking about. Creating reliable and unique content with engaging data will drive more interest to your website, which in turn could mean people are also staying on your website for longer sessions. Make sure your data also makes sense, because if your audience struggles with the meaning of numbers or data then they’ll lose interest in your content and leave your website. Your data needs to be bright, colourful and enticing, don’t bore your audience off the website!

6. Write For Humans, Not Google

Whilst writing your content for your website or blog, you need to think about the humans reading it, not Google. Will your audience understand what you’re trying to put across? Are you making your points clear enough for them to understand? If you forget about all of the marketing and SEO terms for a second and write your content in the tone and language of your audience, your content will make a long lasting impression on the reader – whilst still making a big impact on Google.
