Why Does It Matter?

With nearly one billion active Facebook users, the value of the development of a Business facebook page is uncontested.

However, the million dollar question is as follows. What’s the difference between setting up a personal Facebook page and a commercial Facebook page?

The two are completely different platforms. Facebook is evolving all the time and it’s important to follow Facebook’s selling guidelines to avoid being blacklisted by the social media giant.

Here’s some handy Do’s and Don’ts to get you started..

TIMELINES

DO customise your timeline cover image. It’s vital for your branding. Are you using the correct image dimensions? Distorted images with the wrong pixel size, are a DON’T.

COVER IMAGE RULES

Be aware of Facebook’s cover image guidelines!

The cover image is meant to enforce your brand and

Allow you to connect with your audience. It is not

Permitted to use this area for a ‘hard sell’ of direct

Self-promotion.

DO include branded images that are the right pixel size.

DON’T include direct selling references such as:

Price, discounts or other selling “calls to actions” e.g. “Sale Now On”.

DON’T include company information that would be better

Placed in the ‘About Us’ section.

DO include your company Tagline below the cover image.

DO make sure you have legal copyright for all images.

APP CUSTOMISATION

DO customise your apps and be selective about the 4 visible apps on display.

Beneath your Facebook Cover Image.

DO customise more than 4 apps. There are a total of 14 apps available on your timeline.

DO develop a bespoke thumbnail for your app and a unique URL to drive traffic to a specific app.

ENGAGE WITH YOUR TARGET AUDIENCE

DO think about your target audience and create relevant posts with a varied content diet.

BE CONSISTENT

DON’T be inconsistent and post sporadically. To build a relationship with your user base, you need to post frequently with quality content.

DO vary your posts. Variety is the spice of life and facebook users like new, fresh ideas!

This is the tip of the iceberg! Social Media for Business is always evolving and doesn’t sit still! Keep ahead of the game and keep your strategy vibrant!
