It has been a crazy past few weeks at SEO Traffic Lab and the time has just flown! We would like to Thank everybody involved with the Internet World 2013 event last week.
Our debut at Europe’s leading digital marketing event was a resounding success and it was great to see everybody’s hard work pay off! 🙂
A hard core team of four consultants travelled down to the capital to exhibit for three days at Earls Court 2, the location for Europe’s leading digital marketing event.
After our alarms clocks sounded in unison at 3.30am we set off to the bright lights of central London, armed with a map and a few lab coats 🙂 Little did we realise that our scientific outfits would attract so much interest amidst the hurly burly of the big smoke.
The quartet of crazed scientists aka Dr. Birkitt, Dr. Hill, Dr. Crick and Dr. Dunton (the honourary female addition to the team) embarked with some trepidation to spread the word about SEO to a hungry audience of Marketers and digital media enthusiasts.
Here are some highlights from our ‘journey’..
Day 1
We talked to hundreds of people on the first day of the show and provided Core Vertical Analysis consultations.

Lots of visitors asked us many questions and we were  very happy to discuss marketing strategies with Ecommerce owners aplenty and marketing bods. We started gathering entries for the IPAD mini competitions from business cards placed in a conical flask. We were surprised by how many people seemed fascinated by the lab test tube vials. We displaced the widely circulated rumour that our test tubes were filled with vodka shots, or……blood! There were some fertile imaginations at the show!
We were delighted when the Press at the event tweeted about #labcoat and our outfits being the best at the show! 😉
Day 2
Another early start and a busy day and the team just didn’t stop!
It was getting towards the end of the day, when Andy ‘indefatigable’ Birkitt had a surge of energy and needed to quell his insatiable thirst for new social media insights. With a determined stride he disappeared into the realms of the Keynote Theatre. Andy went to listen to social media giant Facebook’s, UK Sales Manager, Ed Couchman presentation entitled ‘Building Essential Connections’.
Ed’s talk centred around how Facebook can enable businesses to build essential connections with their customers.
Here’s some key take outs from our Head of Technical:

  • A whopping 33.7 million people in the UK use facebook.
  • Businesses will be better in a connected world

New facebook announcements:
Facebook Home
Facebook has just announced the launch of Facebook Home, its own social version of Android.
What is Facebook Home?
Facebook Home is software for your mobile phone designed to enhance the level of connection with friends. You can download Facebook Home for free or purchase it pre-installed on a phone. Facebook Home works together with the Facebook for Android and Facebook Messenger apps to enable its main features:

  • Cover feed: Glance at your phone for photos and posts from your Facebook News Feed.
  • Chat heads: Send and receive texts and Facebook messages in one place. Open, close and drag chat heads around your screen to keep chatting while you’re using other apps.
  • Notifications: See news as it happens with bigger, bolder notifications on your home screen.
  • App launcher: Get right to your favorite apps and post to Facebook from the same place.

Watch Forbes’ video demonstrating the new software.
Wraparound app

  • The delivery of the Wraparound app for mobiles will facilitate greater connectivity for users as the facebook newsfeed will be displayed even in idle mode.

Amidst the battle of the social media networks to reach the coveted 2 billion followers, the role of the mobile platform will be instrumental in helping the leader to reach this summit.
Facebook already has the largest network with 680 million people using facebook from their mobiles.
